Steve Hanson,
DC, CCSP
Dr. Hanson
graduated from the University of South Dakota at Vermillion in
1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and then attended
Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, MN(now
NWHSU) graduating with a Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2001. He
completed his Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP)
program in 2004 in Sioux Falls, SD, and also received Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) designation during
2004. Dr. Hanson has memberships in both the American
Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and the National
Strength and Conditioning Association.
While attending
Northwestern Dr. Hanson was involved in the Sports Council which
led to an internship at one of Southern California's top sports
injury clinics. Dr. Hanson states that he learned a great deal
during this time about soft tissue techniques as well
as advanced taping techniques. He was very fortunate to
have hands on experience with pro surfers, pro beach volleyball
players, and countless other outstanding athletes in the area.
After graduation, Dr. Hanson accepted a position in South Dakota
which enabled him to work with a Semi-pro football team and
various surrounding collegiate athletic teams. He also enjoys
designing specific rehabilitation protocols for individuals and
still holds a South Dakota chiropractic license.
Dr.
Hanson respects the challenge of sports injuries and has a
strong appreciation for the soft tissue component occuring with
each injury. He uses various myofascial release techniques
including Graston to stimulate the healing process. In
conjunction with myofascial release Dr. Hanson will often apply
Specific Proprioceptive Response Taping (SPRT) to dynamically
support specific structures while enhancing the movement of
uninjured tissues. He also utilizes therapeutic stretching and
strengthening along with chiropractic manipulative therapy.
Dr. Hanson is a
sports enthusiast and has had the misfortune of multiple
injuries while competing in football, basketball, track, or
tennis. Dealing with his own injuries over the years has given
him a better understanding of the different phases each injury
requires to properly heal. ? look forward to combining my
personal experience and advanced education helping patients
return to top health. I'm extremely excited to be a part of
Oregon's premier sports injury clinic!?/span>
